I am a convert to the church.  I joined the church when I was 21, served a mission at 22.  After serving my mission with church, I attended BYU where I met my husband, Eric.  We were married at the Manti temple.  None of my family was able to be in the sealing room with me.  They were very kind and gracious about this, but I know it hurt their feeling to not be included.  Looking back, I see now that the hurt and exclusion they experienced was completely unnecessary.  I will encourage my children to consider marriage outside the temple, in addition to being sealed, especially if there are non-member family or friends that would have to otherwise be excluded.  I really think that is the way to show kindness and love to those we love who are of other faiths, and it in no way diminishes the temple sealing.
